Our First Studio Strobe Arrives

So today was a big deal at JSH Photography.  Up until now we have been using natural light and off camera speed lights to light our photographs.  While this works wonderfully well we are always looking for ways to improve what we do.

With that in mind we got a nice package in the mail today, our first studio strobe the Einstein 640.  After hours of research online and playing around with a few strobe units some fellow photographers graciously lent us we settled on the Paul C. Bluff Einstein 640.  For those of you that don’t know a strobe is basically a flash unit that can produce light at higher power levels with faster recycle times (lets the flash fire quicker).

The only downside today is that I have been sick all weekend and am still feeling the lag of recovery today, so I will have to wait to really play with this light and post a review here later.  That said, I did un-box it and set a couple of quick test shots and the results were impressive, especially considering I have no idea what I am doing with a studio strobe yet.

New Site is Live and Working

So we launched the new site this week! So far the feed back has been great and we really appreciate everyone’s help testing things out for us.  We have a few more tweaks to make like adding a picture of my brother and I to the about us page (imagine that, a photo of the photographers on their website!)  But other than that the site is pretty much done.

Now we will be focusing on getting some new blog articles up.  We really want to help inspire people and share our love for photography.  One thing we plan on doing is having a section for tutorials that explains tricks and techniques so you can get better results in your own work.  We will also discuss gear from time to time and software to use in post production for your photos.

All in all it should be a fun journey and we are looking forward to sharing it with who ever wants to join in!

New Site and Facebook Coming Along

Wow, so it has been a busy week.  We are in the process of upgrading our site and are almost done.  On top of that we launched our Facebook Page and had over 80 likes with the first 24 hours! While this is not a record breaking number we were certainly blessed and excited to see so many people like us right away.

We are hoping to start providing useful, fun content for many of you out there as well as do a better job showcasing our more current work. (It is not good when your website is 2 years out of date.)

Well, here is to progress! We are looking forward to what 2012 will bring.

Working on the New Site

So we are putting together our new site.  Normally this would be done seamlessly in the background while everyone is sleeping, then released with ease one morning as you sip your favorite cup of joe!  You would be stunned at the new beauty of the site and send us an email then tell all your friends on Facebook!

What we are actually doing is building it out as we go because we are so busy with projects.  Not the best plan we know, but we figure this will force us to get the site done before 2013!  So you may find a few odd things or links that don’t seem to work yet, this is all part of our extremely well thought out plan.

Hopefully we will have the rest of the site tweaked out by the weekend ready for a glorious launch Monday morning just in time for your cup of coffee!!
